Projects Underway

Dobrzen, Poland
Mavel signed a contract in December 2006 with Elektrownie Szczytowo-Pompowe S.A. to provide technology for the new Dobrzen hydroelectric power plant on the Odra River near Opole, Poland. The site has head of 2.2 meters and flow of 96 cubic meters per second. Mavel is providing two Kaplan turbines KP 3200K3 and electrical equipment, asynchronous generators, hydraulic regulation, transport, design, project documentation and supervision for installation, testing and commissioning. The completion date for the hydro plant Dobrzen is expected for October 2008 with 1.6 MW total installed power.

Malczyce, Poland
In 2005, as leader of a consortium with Energoprojekt Warszawa S.A., Mavel signed a long term contract with Regionalny Zarzad Gospodarki Wodnej we Wrocloawiu to provide all design engineering and technology for the new 9 MW Malczyce hydroelectric power plant. The site of the new plant on the Odra River in southwest Poland has an existing weir and locks. The new facility will install a new weir with tilting gates, new locks and a powerhouse. Mavel will provide three horizontal pit Kaplan KP3400K3 turbines. Each turbine will be connected to a synchronous generator by a gearbox. Mavel will also provide the generators, hydraulic, lubrication and cooling equipment as well as assembly, testing and commissioning. The site has flow of 240 cubic meters per second and head ranging from 4.2 to 6.4 meters.

Vales, Portugal
Mavel has received an order from EFACEC Engenharia S.A. to provide one Francis FSH 750 turbine, synchronous generator, governor, intake, design and project documentation, workshop tests and supervision of assembly and commissioning for a new hydroelectric power plant in Portugal. The Vales hydroelectric power plant site is on the Tynhela River about 100 kilometers northeast of Porto and is owned by ATBERG - Eólicas do Alto Tamega e Barroso, Lda. The site parameters are head 128 meters and maximum flow 2.9 cubic meters per second. Installed power is expected to be 3.3 MW.

Sagfossen, Norway
Mavel signed an order in the second quarter of 2007 to provide a turbine and related equipment for the new Sagfossen hydroelectric power plant in Norway. The order was placed by Norsk Hydro's Hydro Production Partner a.s. division and includes one Kaplan "Z" turbine type KZ850K4, asynchronous generator, electrical system, hydraulic pressure unit, transport, design, installation supervision, testing and commissioning. The new plant with head of 10 meters and flow of 4 cubic meters per second will have installed power of 347 kW.

Nyagak, Uganda
In late 2006, Mavel received an order from Skodaexport, a.s., the EPC Contractor, to supply two turbines for the Nyagak hydroelectric power plant in Uganda - a joint initiative of the Uganda government and WENRECo. Mavel will provide two Mavel Francis scroll case turbines type FSK600, generators, sluice gate, electrical system, governor and supervision of installation and commissioning. The site with head of 75.85 meters and flow of 2.75 cubic meters per second will have installed power of 3.5 MW.
